For more than 85 years, Ducks Unlimited has been the leader in wetland conservation, protecting and restoring critical habitat for waterfowl, wildlife, and future generations. In North Carolina, our Major Sponsor Program brings together a dedicated group of conservation-minded individuals who are committed to making a lasting impact on the landscapes, waters, and wildlife that make our state special.
Making a Difference Here at Home
Every year, Ducks Unlimited volunteers across North Carolina raise millions of dollars through banquets, shoots, raffles, and special events. While these fundraising efforts are critical to supporting Ducks Unlimited’s mission across the continent, historically less than 5% of the dollars raised annually in North Carolina directly benefit conservation projects within our great state.
The North Carolina Major Sponsor Program provides a unique opportunity to change that.
The only way for an individual donor to specifically direct their charitable support toward North Carolina conservation projects is through a Major Sponsor pledge. These pledges create a dedicated source of funding that can be invested directly into habitat conservation and restoration efforts right here at home.
Flexible Giving That Works for You
A Major Sponsor pledge is designed to be both impactful and flexible. Donors may structure their commitment over a period of up to five years, making it easy to support conservation at a level that aligns with their philanthropic goals.
Even better, many of the contributions that supporters already make to Ducks Unlimited can count toward fulfilling a pledge. Event table purchases, sponsorships, and other qualifying contributions can often be credited toward a Major Sponsor commitment, allowing members to continue supporting local chapters while advancing their conservation investment.
Turning One Dollar into Many
Perhaps the greatest benefit of the Major Sponsor Program is the ability to leverage private donations into significantly larger conservation investments.
Major Sponsor pledge dollars serve as critical matching funds that allow Ducks Unlimited to compete for and secure grants through the North American Wetlands Conservation Act (NAWCA), one of the most successful conservation funding programs in the United States.
These federal grants multiply the impact of private contributions and help fund large-scale habitat restoration projects throughout North Carolina.
In 2025, every dollar pledged by North Carolina Major Sponsors helped leverage an additional $11.46 for conservation projects in our state. This means a $10,000 pledge had the potential to generate more than $114,000 in additional conservation funding, creating an impact far beyond the original gift.
Simply put, Major Sponsor commitments allow Ducks Unlimited to bring outside conservation dollars into North Carolina that otherwise might be invested elsewhere.
